The temperature in my town today was quickly reaching up to touch the toes of the 90 degree Fahrenheit mark. I was longing to take a bike ride, but in that heat I would certainly melt so instead I harkened back to the time Spaceman and I visited the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame in Davis, CA.
On a rather average Saturday afternoon, Spaceman and I took a trip down highway 210 and exited to Sierra Madre, hello 1950’s! I have mentioned this town in a previous post here, but it is worth a more in-depth exploration as 2015 has been a tough start and I wanted to turn back the clock for a moment to when things sounded better…and I heard there was a good ice cream shop there.
It was just my birthday and to my delight my husband took me to the happiest place on earth! No, not Disneyland…Sugar and Spice the frozen banana stand on Balboa Island in Newport Beach. If you have not been here yet, I suggest you run (not walk) to it and grab your treat.
As I sat plucking another chocolate into my mouth thinking, “Can this be good for me?”, the answer screamed back at me in black and white, “Yes!”
There is beauty and then there is Palos Verdes, California beauty. Nestled within the hillside, sitting atop the rugged cliffs that meet the Pacific Ocean sits Wayfarers Chapel, better known to locals as “the glass church.”
