Poem for Valentines Gone By

In honor of all the love that surrounds Valentine’s Day celebrations this week, here is a poem I wrote for three loves of mine who have gone away but will never be forgotten (sorry Lisa, my poetry teacher from school days, but this one does rhyme).

I’ll Remember You

I wish you didn’t have to go,

Because I truly loved you so;

But I’m blessed because I’ll always know,

I once had an angel walking beside me.

Now your face I can only see,

When I close my eyes and think back to what used to be;

But I know you’re still walking alongside of me,

It’s just that now you’re locked away in my memory;

And I smile at those times that I wish could still be.
