Sore Throat Remedy

You know the drill: first comes the scratchy throat then a runny nose followed by an irritating cough and next stop…bed for a few days, yuck! This was one dance I didn’t want to partake in (dancing, even on a good day, is not my strong suit) when I felt the first “tingles” of a sore throat. Luckily I have learned of a few sore throat busters if you catch it early enough.

Most all of us know chicken soup has proven healing abilities, and rest is another effective defense against colds and flus. However, following are three new remedies I have learned from Spaceman and friends that have proven to work on my recent sore throat. Drumroll please…

  1. Finrexin Neo Mustaherukka Svartvinbar: If you didn’t already guess, this remedy is from Spaceman. This Finnish powder elixir is added to hot water and soothes your throat while pumping healing properties into your system. You can order this online or take a trip to Finland. It’s a beautiful country!
  2. Vitamin C: This may sound obvious, but my friend told me to take copious amounts (we are talking about 8,000mg) of Vitamin C daily until the throat is feeling better. It seems that Vitamin C is one vitamin your body will naturally rid itself of if you have taken too much so no immediate need to worry (I am not a doctor though so use caution and common sense).
  3. Throat Rinse: Another friend swears by a salt water apple cider vinegar rinse. Gargle this concoction a few times a day and say “hello” to a healed throat. Luckily my throat was healed by the first two options so I did not need to try this one as my friend also said it doesn’t have the best taste.

With a cold/flu virus making the rounds, these are a few more tricks to add to your arsenal when fighting a sore throat. I’d love to hear if you have a favorite remedy.
