Ah, back to a post on my beloved topic…food!

On a recent trip to Palm Desert, my husband and I stopped in at our local, favorite pizza spot, Billy Q’s. It is one of the few pizza establishments that can still be called a “neighborhood joint”…don’t let the lack of a neighborhood confuse you. As the wafts of delicious pizza smells greet you at the door, one of the staff gives you a friendly “hello” and suddenly you feel like a regular who has just dropped in for a bite at their friend’s place.

The pizzas here are made with the freshest of ingredients and the crust is thin, oh yeah. For those of you who prefer thicker crust (huh?), you should ask for their sourdough choice as it is slightly thicker. Billy Q’s, however, is “more than just pizza” as their sign says. You can order salads and sandwiches as well. They also have a beer and wine list, but the lemonade is really tasty.

As all quality pizza joints do, Billy Q’s has multiple television screens with sports on at all times. The greatest news is that they regularly show the day’s NHL hockey game. To my husband who is from Finland and claims all Finns are born with skates on (ouch to you moms!), this is more than delightful news – it is their “koko elämä” (“whole life”).
